The Pattern Doesn't Stay in One Room

What do you actually think you're worth? And why?

A survivor of narcissistic abuse is like a dry alcoholic.

You can stop drinking. You can leave the relationship. The decision is real, and it matters. But the vulnerability underneath it doesn't disappear the day you walk away. It goes quiet. It waits. And if you're not watching for it — if you don't know your own pattern well enough to recognize the setup before it's already happening — it finds its way back in.

I know a woman who lived through this exact thing twice, in two different relationships, with two different men, years apart. Not because she was careless. Not because she hadn't learned anything the first time. She had. She just couldn't see the pattern showing up again until she was already standing inside it.

That's not a story about her being unaware. That's a story about how quiet a pattern can be when you've only ever been taught to watch for the obvious version of it.

Two rooms, same question

This time, when it showed up for me, I caught it as it was happening. And here's the part that actually surprised me: it didn't only show up in a relationship.

It showed up in my work.

Over 20 years translating at the highest level — for institutions like the European Parliament, for the Museo del Prado — and I still have agencies pushing my rate down, treating the work as if it's worth less than it is. Market conditions don't fully explain that. I know what my work is worth. I know the caliber of the clients I've served. And still, somewhere, a negotiation happens where I let the number slide lower than it should.

Two completely different rooms in my life. A relationship, and a rate negotiation. On the surface, nothing in common. Underneath, the exact same question, asked in two different voices: what do you actually think you're worth? And why?

Why naming what happened isn't enough

This is exactly why CosFi isn't built around cataloguing what happened to you. Plenty of good work already does that — and it matters, it's not nothing. But naming the event isn't the same as reading the pattern underneath it.

The pattern doesn't stay in one room. It doesn't confine itself to relationships, or to money, or to family, or to work. It runs underneath all of them at once, using whatever room is open to it, until you actually know how to see it — not just in hindsight, after the damage, but as it's forming.

That's what the Cosmic Fingerprint method reads: not the story of what happened, but the elemental pattern steering how you keep ending up there. Awareness, in that sense, isn't a nice extra you add once the healing work is otherwise done. It's the only place you actually get to choose something different.

If this is landing

If any part of this is landing — the two rooms, the quiet return of an old vulnerability, the question of what you think you're actually worth — that's worth looking at directly, not just feeling for a moment and moving on.

The free Cosmic Fingerprint Quiz takes about 5 minutes and shows you which element is running the show in your own pattern — the first real step toward reading it instead of just living inside it.
